About John
Biography
President and co-founder of DataWORKS Educational Research. John has applied his analytical and presenting skills to the field of education, transforming teachers’ and students’ mindsets with his insights into the teaching process.
Working with his wife and chief researcher Silvia Ybarra, Ed. D., they pioneered a collection of research-based strategies, known as Explicit Direct Instruction, which has received high praise from teachers around the world.
John’s mastery of lesson delivery inspires educators everywhere. He has presented his engaging and practical strategies to a wide variety of audiences from coast to coast in the USA as well as in China, the Netherlands, and Australia. He is also the author of three educational bestsellers.
John is a part-time organic grape grower and has been spending his time working on a rock-musical when he is not in the world of academia.
