Jim Riedl



Jim has been involved in all levels of public education and served in a wide range of roles so far during his 42-year career in education.

He has taught second, third, fourth and sixth grades. His content specialties include math and social studies as well as all other subjects in the primary grades. He was a math specialist and math program coordinator. Jim has also presented at numerous national conferences for ASCD, Learning Forward, Title 1, National School Boards Association and National Middle Schools Association.

Jim then worked with Learning-Focused for nine years.

Jim’s administrative experience at the school level included high school assistant principal and high school principal.
His last public school administrative position was as the Director of Staff and Curriculum Development for the Madison-Oneida BOCES, a service agency serving ten school districts, in upstate New York. During his twenty-two years in that position, he was involved in numerous state-wide projects and had the opportunity to work with many of the finest educational leaders across the US.

Jim then worked with Learning-Focused for nine years. He was the Vice President for Client Partnerships and as a national consultant providing training in; Leadership, Monitoring, Supervision, Learning-Focused Strategies, Unit and Lesson Study, Toolbox and Power Curriculum. He is the co-author of Power Curriculum, Actualizing the Power Curriculum, Starting and Sustaining Exemplary Practices. Jim is the sole author of Improving Teaching and Learning through Exemplary Supervision, Learning Units/Lessons That Work and The Essential Question and Assessment Prompts What Moves You booklets. His latest publication, written with Shannon Thompson, is The Amazing Book of Connections for Learning (2nd Edition).

For DataWORKS, Jim facilitates workshops and offers interactive, instructional coaching. Jim and his wife Cindy, also an Educational Consultant and author of two books on Vocabulary Instruction, split their time between NY and AZ when they are not traveling in their consulting work with schools throughout the US.
