EDI® Lesson Plan Feedback

A DataWORKS researcher goes to the school to provide feedback on how well teachers are designing lessons that include researched components that help students learn more and learn faster. Instructional leaders must attend to learn how to give Lesson Feedback to teachers to support effective and ongoing implementation.

Why is Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) Lesson Plan Feedback valuable?
The most important factor in student learning is the teacher in front of the classroom. Research has shown that no matter how well intentioned, effective staff development requires extensive monitoring, feedback, and coaching to facilitate implementation amongst all teachers.

What is Explicit Direct Instruction Lesson Plan Feedback and what does the school need to do?
A DataWORKS researcher goes to the school to provide feedback on EDI lessons written and designed by teachers after having received EDI instruction. Typically, the school uses roving subs to periodically pull out groups of teachers. The teachers meet with a DataWORKS researcher, in a conference room provided by the school, to review the lesson they have written. Feedback is given to the lessons for alignment to standards and use of effective lesson delivery components. Teachers are pulled out by grade level or content area to meet. This process should be repeated until all teachers are designing effective lessons that include the research based strategies from the training.
